Rebecca Frech is the awesome mama of the WCMX Super Star, Ella Frech. She lives just outside Dallas with her husband, the brilliant Computer Guy, their 7 not-quite-perfect children, and an ever-multiplying family of dust bunnies. When she’s not teaching math, neglecting housework, or reluctantly training for a marathon, she’s blogging at Shoved to Them. – See more at:

Tell us what adaptive means to you:

Adaptive means taking what you have and figuring out a way to make it work. We all have our own set of strengths and challenges. Being Adaptive means putting those things together in the most functional way possible.

What do you think is missing for Adaptive individuals in the world of fitness?
I think we mainly need to see greater access, and more awareness of what is available. Too many coaches and trainers look at Adaptive Athletes and are intimidated. They don’t know where to begin coaching, and are also fearful of the legal liabilities of taking on such a challenge. On the other hand, there are many programs which are underutilized because people don’t know that they exist. This means that those of us with gyms, teams, or programs need to do a better job of getting the word out that we’re here.
